Deliveroo launches second Editions kitchen in Lavender

It partnered with seven F&B stores that will cook food exclusively on the kitchen site.

Deliveroo launched its second Deliveroo Editions site in CT Hub 2, Lavender with seven restaurant partners.

According to an announcement, the new seven partners are Kurry Korner, Aloha Poke, Street of Saigon, Da Paolo Pizza Bar, Blu Kouzina, Wolf Burgers, and Dosirak.

The firm said a world first for Deliveroo at the Lavender site will be the ‘click-and-collect’ function, where customers in the nearby vicinity can choose to pick up their orders directly from the site or order at the site and eat their meals in the dine-in space. For consumers who do, there is no delivery fee.

Editions sites host "super kitchens" which are designed only for the cooking and delivery of specific cuisines. Restaurants can place their staff in Deliveroo's delivery-only kitchens.

Deliveroo Editions CT Hub 2 also serves as a launch pad for their F&B partners to introduce new menus and restaurant concepts that are exclusively available on the app.

Jacinta Lee, co-founder of one of the Deliveroo's partners Streets of Saigon said, “Deliveroo Editions is changing the way that we operate by providing us with a platform to experiment with minimal risk, especially in Singapore’s competitive environment where the setup cost is high. It also enables us to react very quickly to food trends. For example, customers can now opt to try our virtual menu, SOS Asian Bowls which is a grain bowl concept, on top of our usual fare."

Deliveroo also said it has updated its app with an alert system that lets both restaurant partner and rider know when an order is ready for collection at the site.

Deliveroo founder and CEO Will Shu commented, “As our competitors pack up and move out of Singapore, we are excited about our continued growth in the region, central to which will be our Deliveroo’s delivery-only sites.”

As part of Grab’s acquisition of rival Uber’s Southeast Asian operations, Uber EATS’ delivery services and restaurant partners will move to the GrabFood platform. GrabFood will initially expand its services to Singapore and Malaysia and then have them available to all major Southeast Asian countries in the first half of 2018. Like with the ride-hailing landscape, Grab is poised to dominate the food delivery scene, and some think foodpanda, Honestbee, and Deliveroo should be worried.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
