Blood needed: Calling on O and A blood donors

More than 350 units are needed daily to meet the transfusion needs of patients in Singapore.

The Singapore Red Cross and the Health Sciences Authority jointly said in a statement, “The recent increased hospital utilisation caused by several bleeding emergencies and reduced support for corporate bloodmobiles due to the fasting month have resulted in a slow recovery of the daily blood supply. In view of the upcoming long weekend, SRC and HSA aim to ramp up the current blood stocks to meet the daily transfusion needs of patients as well as for bleeding emergencies.”

All healthy individuals between 16 and 60 years, weighing at least 45kg, are urged to come forward to help. Donors who have not made a donation in the past 12 weeks are encouraged to donate as well.

HSA is closely managing blood usage with the hospitals, and SRC is working with bloodmobile organisers to mobilise their staff/members/ volunteers to come forward.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
