NUS, NTU amongst top 15 global universities

According to the latest QS report, NUS is ranked 8th globally, maintaining its position as Asia’s top university.

Singapore’s higher education institutions have once again cemented their reputation as global leaders, with the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) both placing in the top 15 of the QS World University Rankings 2026, released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

According to the latest QS report, NUS is ranked 8th globally, maintaining its position as Asia’s top university.

It also earned high marks in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World Reputation Rankings, placing 19th worldwide, further reinforcing its international standing as a research-intensive powerhouse.

Meanwhile, NTU climbed to 12th place globally in the QS rankings, up from 15th in the previous year, underscoring the university’s continued momentum in areas like engineering, computer science, and sustainability research.

NTU’s rapid rise is supported by its large-scale research institutes such as the Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) and the Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science.

Both NUS and NTU are ranked first and second, respectively, in Asia-Pacific for research output and societal impact, according to the latest SCImago Institutions Rankings.

Whilst the two national universities dominate global charts, the Singapore Management University (SMU) also received recognition for its strengths in business and economics.

Although not in the top 100 overall, SMU remains internationally ranked in specialist subjects and is noted for its triple accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA) and its Wharton-style seminar model.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
