SG best place in the world for freelancers: Tide

Meanwhile, Japan is the worst country to work in freelance.

UK business financial platform Tide released its Freelancer Hotspots: The best countries for a freelance life report on 7 October.

According to the report, Singapore took the top spot as the best place to work as a freelancer in 2021, with a score of 7.35/10. New Zealand was second with 7.20/10, and Spain third with 6.53/10.

On the other hand, Japan took the last spot as the worst country for freelancers at 3.99/10. China and Italy followed in second and third, respectively.

The factors that affected the scores are broadband speed, broadband affordability, searches for freelance work per 100,000 people, co-working spaces per 100,000 people, the strength of legal rights protecting freelancers, cost of living, the Happiness Index from 2017 to 2019, and the Global Gender Gap Index 2020.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
