Singapore hiring up 2.1%, still 43% above pre-COVID

As of June, 14.8% of all job postings mentioned AI, a 10.1% year-over-year increase.

Singapore’s job postings rose by 2.1% after five straight months of decline, but still 43% above pre-pandemic levels according to data released by Indeed.

Artificial intelligence continues to gain traction in Singapore’s workforce. As of June, 14.8% of all job postings mentioned AI, a 10.1% year-over-year increase.

AI references now appear in one-third of tech jobs—and increasingly in non-tech sectors too. Scientific research (37%) and mechanical engineering (32%) had the highest AI penetration among non-tech roles.

June data also showed strong hiring in health and infrastructure. Job postings in sports and pharmaceutical-related roles have tripled compared to pre-pandemic levels, while openings in education, dentistry, civil engineering, and medical fields doubled.

Conversely, postings in veterinary services (-31%), security and public safety (-30%), and community and social services (-22%) declined sharply over the past three months.

Employers remain focused on long-term strategic hiring in areas aligned with national priorities and innovation. However, Pickering warned that geopolitical and economic headwinds could still cast uncertainty on the trajectory ahead.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
