Unemployment rate in November slid to 3.3%

November has seen the first decline in unemployment rate in 2020.

Singapore’s overall unemployment rate fell to 3.3% in November, from 3.6% the month prior, according to figures published by the Ministry of Manpower on 8 January.

The drop was noted as the first in 2020, possibly punctuating the worst for the labour market amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The unemployment rate of Singaporean citizens and permanent residents decreased from 4.8% to 4.6%. In November, 109,500 residents were unemployed.

Meanwhile, the citizen unemployment rate decreased from 4.9% to 4.7%. In November, 94,000 citizens were unemployed.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
