Temasek plans Riyadh, Abu Dhabi offices amidst Middle East expansion plan

The offices are expected to open in the first half of 2027.

Temasek plans to establish offices in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi as it expands its presence in the Middle East.

The offices are expected to become operational in the first half of 2027, subject to statutory approvals.

Temasek will also deepen its engagement with institutions in Qatar and pursue partnership and investment opportunities in other Middle Eastern markets.

The investment company said the expansion reflects its confidence in the region’s long-term prospects as governments implement economic development and diversification plans.

The Riyadh and Abu Dhabi offices will serve as strategic hubs for Temasek and its portfolio companies. Some portfolio companies are expected to be based alongside Temasek at the new locations.

The hubs will support collaboration, local partnerships and access to investment opportunities across the Middle East. They will also strengthen Temasek’s connections to Central Asia and Africa.

Temasek Holdings CEO Dilhan Pillay Sandrasegara said the Middle East was an important part of the company’s global network, with the region’s economic priorities aligning with Temasek’s areas of focus.

He said Temasek had developed relationships in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar through partnerships, co-investments and its portfolio companies.

Temasek Global Investments CEO Chia Song Hwee said having a presence in the region would improve engagement with partners and provide Temasek and its portfolio companies with greater access to investment opportunities.

Chia was appointed chairman for the Middle East and Africa effective 1 September. Ankit Khemka will continue to oversee Temasek’s regional strategy and expansion as managing director.

With the addition of the Riyadh and Abu Dhabi locations, Temasek’s global network will expand from 13 offices in nine countries to 15 offices across 11 countries in 2027.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
