Citi unveils help desk to help Chinese emerging companies expand in Singapore

Clients will be able to access advice about local operating and regulatory environments, amongst others.

Citi Commercial Bank Asia Pacific has set up a China desk in Singapore to help emerging corporates from China set up shop in new markets across Southeast Asia, particularly in the Lion City, according to the press release.

Through the China desk, clients will access advice about the local operating and regulatory environments of the market, amongst other banking solutions and support. This reportedly helps reduce complexity and speeds up time-to-market when clients enter new geographies.

This is Citi’s seventh Asia desk in the region. The desks are helmed by Citi’s experienced bankers, who reportedly understand nuances of different cultures and etiquette to better serve clients as they invest to grow.

For the China desk in Singapore, Citi has appointed Mona Zhang as its lead. Zhang is, previously the parent account manager for mid corporations in CCB China’s office.

Citi Commercial Bank ASEAN and Singapore Head Lin Hsiu-Yi said that the new SIngapore-based China desk will enable the bank to better and more effectively partner with their clients to support their growth aspirations.

“The desk will provide specialized support and leverage our capabilities as a full-service bank, connecting clients to Citi’s broader Institutional Clients Group to offer services across banking, FX, cash management, capital markets financing and advisory,” Lin said.

Citi’s other desks in the region include a Korea desk in China, Hong Kong, India and Vietnam; a Greater China desk in Hong Kong; and a China desk in India.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
