Japan Home resumes Singapore operations under Valu$ operator

All stores resumed operations on 20 August.

International Housewares Retail Company Ltd. (IH Retail), owner of Japan Home in Singapore, has reopened all its stores following the completion of a franchise transition.

All stores resumed operations on 20 August, following the signing of a three-year franchise agreement between IH Retail and Radha Export Pte. Ltd., the company behind ABC and Valu$ stores in Singapore, on 13 August

Under the agreement, Radha has exclusive rights to operate the Japan Home business in Singapore, including through sub-franchisees, and to open additional outlets at suitable locations. Existing Japan Home stores were handed over to Radha on 19 August.

Radha brings experience in consumer goods and wholesale distribution, along with local operational expertise and an established supply chain network.

IH Retail expects the partnership to improve store operating efficiency, strengthen responsiveness to market demand and maintain Japan Home’s brand presence in Singapore.

The franchise model is also expected to support the brand’s expansion in Singapore and across Southeast Asia over the next three years.

IH Retail said the restructuring is aimed at optimising its regional business structure, improving operational quality and enhancing efficiency.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
