OCBC loan growth to moderate in H2 as deal loans fade: RHB

Loan growth and NII estimates have been improved compared to earlier assumptions.

OCBC’s loan growth should moderate in the second half of 2026, as deal-related loans are not expected to be repeated, said RHB Singapore Research team.

The Singapore-headquartered bank revised its loan growth estimates to high single to low double digit, from mid-single digit previously, the report said.

Net interest income (NII) is still set for a slight decline, an improvement from previous estimates of a slight to moderate drop.

“OCBC now has greater confidence that total income should grow versus stable to growing,” RHB Singapore Research team stated.

On China’s recent rules on financial activities, management said it was still early and had not seen any significant asset flow shifts, the report noted.

OCBC’s net profit climbed 22% year-on-year to S$2.22b in the second quarter of 2026, with total income rising 18%. First half net profit rose 13% to S$4.19b.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
