SNEF elects Kuah Boon Wee as president for 2026-2028 term

Three new members have also joined the SNEF Council.

The Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) has elected Kuah Boon Wee, director of MTQ Corporation Ltd, as its president for the 2026-2028 term.

The election took place at SNEF’s 46th Annual General Meeting, where members also elected a 19 member Council.

Kuah has served on the SNEF Council since 2015 and as vice-president since 2024. He has represented employers in tripartite discussions on industrial relations and manpower issues, including the latest review of the Employment Act.

“We will build on the strong foundation established under his leadership as we continue to champion employers’ interests, strengthen tripartite cooperation and support businesses in a rapidly changing environment,” Kuah said.

The new Council includes senior business leaders from banking, manufacturing, professional services, logistics, hospitality, engineering, energy, and technology. Three new members, Adeline Sim, Bennett Neo and Bernard Lim, were also elected.

SNEF said the Council will focus on representing employers in national manpower discussions, strengthening tripartite cooperation and helping businesses adapt to geopolitical uncertainty, technological changes, demographic shifts and changing workforce expectations.

SNEF has more than 4,000 member companies employing around 900,000 workers across 16 industry sectors. It also established its Advisory, Resource and Consultancy Centre last year to expand workplace and workforce advisory services and gather employer feedback for policy discussions.

Tan Hee Teck stepped down as president after serving on the SNEF Council for 17 years. He joined the Council in 2009, became honorary treasurer in 2014, vice president in 2022 and president in July 2024.

During his tenure, Tan represented SNEF on the National Wages Council, Tripartite Jobs Council, Singapore Economic Resilience Taskforce and CPF Board. SNEF also completed a review of its constitution under his leadership, which members approved in September 2025.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
