StanChart, SMU establish programme for women entrepreneurs

The bank funded $300,000 for the incubator.

Standard Chartered Bank has partnered with Singapore Management University's Lien Centre for Social Innovation to establish a Women in Entrepreneurship Incubator.

The bank has donated $300,000 to support female entrepreneurs focused on creating social impact.

The incubator will provide training, mentoring, and seed funding to aspiring and current female entrepreneurs.

The partnership will prioritise two critical aspects of entrepreneurship development for its participants.

Firstly, it aims to foster an innovative entrepreneurial mindset by utilising tools such as user-centred design, technology, and other problem-solving approaches. This mindset will be applied to addressing challenges for both the individual and society.

Secondly, the incubator will facilitate the participants' journey in social entrepreneurship, supporting their personal and professional growth to become more effective social entrepreneurs.

“We are pleased to support the Women in Entrepreneurship Incubator programme, which will nurture young female entrepreneurs aspiring to achieve social impact and help drive a more inclusive entrepreneurship culture for all.” said SC Ventures Global Head, Alex Manson.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
