MPA extends relief measures until June 2021

The MaritimeSG Together package would have expired after 31 December.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) announced the extension of certain relief measures under the MaritimeSG Together package until 30 June to support affected sectors in the maritime industry amidst the impacts of COVID-19.

The package, introduced in May to assist companies and individuals during the pandemic, would have expired after 31 December.

Amongst the measures extended are the support for passenger-carrying vessels and passenger terminal operators. It entails the extension of 50% port dues concession for passenger-carrying vessels, including regional ferries and cruise ships with a port stay of not more than five days.

MPA will also extend credit terms of up to an additional 45 days until June to ease pressures for maritime companies having difficulty managing their cash flows.

Moreover, the Seafarers Relief Package will be extended for eligible Singaporean seafarers unable to secure shipboard employment between 1 January and 30 June next year. They can apply for financial assistance of up to $700 per month, maximum of six months.

Relief measures not extended will be halted by 2021.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
