Retail investors net buy $888m in SG stocks through 16 September
Net inflows rise to $4.02b, with DBS, OCBC, and SGX leading demand.
Retail investors net bought $888m worth of Singapore stocks over eight trading sessions through 16 September, following a new record high for the Straits Times Index, the SGX group said.
The STI reached 5,828.5 on 4 September, whilst the subsequent buying lifted cumulative retail net inflows for 2026 to $4.02b from $3.13b.
DBS Group Holdings, Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation, and Singapore Exchange accounted for around two-thirds of total retail net buying during the period.
SGX said the flows followed a first-half reporting season in which all three companies reported double-digit returns on equity.
Institutional investors moved in the opposite direction, with net selling widening by $163m over the eight sessions, it added.
Institutional buying strengthened in selected stocks including AEM Holdings, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, Frencken Group, and Keppel.
Amongst small- and mid-cap stocks, ISDN recorded the highest retail net inflow relative to market capitalisation since 4 September.
The company had reported record first-half revenue and a 707% surge in profit attributable to shareholders.
Retail buying across the broader small- and mid-cap segment was concentrated in REITs and selected industrial stocks.
SGX said REITs accounted for seven of the top 20 stocks by retail net inflow relative to market capitalisation, whilst SingPost, ComfortDelGro, and SATS were amongst the leading industrial names.
