StarHub's corporate office is so awesome it has its own theatre exclusive to staff

Telco giant StarHub took a break from the payTV war saga to give its customers a glimpse of its ‘green’ office space in Singapore.

Toying with bright colours, StarHub Green serves as the second home for the telco’s staff since its relocation five years ago. In 2009, StarHub moved its corporate office to StarHub Green building at Ubi from its previous location at Cuppage.

In an exclusive interview with the Singapore Business Review magazine, Chan Hoi San Senior, Vice President of Human Resource, StarHub, said ‘’StarHub Green is a second home for our team of passionate employees, as many spend more than nine hours a day in the Green Mark Gold building.

Our staff is StarHub's most important resource, and we want to make this home work for them.’’

True enough, StarHub Green echoes design suggestions straight from its staff. Chan said ‘’we conducted a survey among our staff to identify which facilities they preferred.

This is why we now have a gym, nursing room and even a 100-seater theatre where movie screenings as well as lunchtime talks on self-motivation, wealth and health are held for staff regularly.’’

Paying great attention to detail, StarHub Green also features bright colours, fittings, furnishings, and amenities.

‘’As we encourage teamwork and strong work collaboration, our office is designed with breakout areas on every floor to support spontaneous meetings and brainstorming sessions.

In addition, our staff can take their breaks at three pantries which are equipped with comfortable café style tables and seats, vending machines for snacks and drinks, and recreational amenities including a pool table, massage chairs and televisions broadcasting our own cable TV programmes,’’ Chan added.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
