Samsung’s wide foldable Galaxy Z Fold8 is official, with amazing aspect ratios for content monsters

As seen at July 2026’s Unpacked keynote, Samsung’s new foldable form factor is now official, and it’s just as premium, as powerful, and as exciting as the others.

Putting popular ratios in your hands

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 is defined by its two displays, each with an aspect ratio that lets you watch, read, and experience content the way Samsung intended.

The Cover Screen, a 5.5-inch, Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display with WUXGA+ resolution (1,248  x 1,972 pixels), has a 10:16 (upright) aspect ratio, whilst still packing a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and Vision Booster for added clarity under bright sunlight.

Unfurl the Galaxy Z Fold8, and it brings the user to an inner Main Screen at 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with QXGA+ resolution (1,848 x 2,448 pixels) and 1-120Hz refresh rate. Crucially, this panel has a 4:3 aspect ratio, as well as Vision Booster added.

Together, the two panels support some of the most common and popular aspect ratios needed to enjoy widescreen movies, nostalgic films, immersive e-books, and many other content types. They are what led Samsung to claim the Galaxy Z Fold8 as the new kind of foldable format that feels natural, no matter which panel you use. Vision Booster ensures both displays reach up to 3,000 nits of brightness to counteract bright sunlight, and it’s further enhanced with a low-reflection finish.

The new foldable also enjoys Samsung’s upgraded Flex Titanium technology, which helps to make its foldables thinner while maintaining the durability of both its near-creaseless look and its display layers. 

On the rear are two 50MP cameras (main with f/1.8 aperture and OIS, ultrawide with f/1.9 aperture) with Dual Recording (front and back capture, with Cover Screen offering your preview) and My FanCam (auto-cropping to tracked subjects in your video recordings).

Still a premium-grade, Galaxy Z foldable phone

As a new form factor, it’s worth mentioning that the Galaxy Z Fold8 is only 81.9 x 123.9 x 9.7mm when folded and 161.4 x 123.9 x 4.5mm when unfolded, all weighing 201g. Keen-eyed folks would notice that the folded Galaxy Z Fold8 is almost the same length and width as a standard travel passport booklet (about 88 x 125mm).

Despite its compact build, inside the Galaxy Z Fold8 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, which is also found in its book-style Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and clamshell Galaxy Z Flip8. It has a 4,800mAh battery capacity, with updated 45W wired charging and 20W wireless charging. Like the other foldables, it also shares the IP48 resistance rating against dust and water.

Also, it’s getting One UI 9 (based on Android 17) right out of the box, along with all the latest connectivity options like 5G network compatibility, up to Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6.0. Like the other two foldables, it’s also getting seven generations of OS upgrades and security updates.

Not to forget, it comes with the full AI works: Samsung’s Galaxy AI, Google Gemini compatibility, and a more conversant Bixby to help you navigate around your phone.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 pricing and availability

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 is available in Singapore in three colourways: Lavender, Cream, and Graphite. The fourth colourway, Pistachio, is an online exclusive only found on the Samsung Online Store and Samsung Shop App.
