SIA to continue operating five DHL freighters at Changi
Airline engineers will oversee maintenance, whilst its pilots operate the fleet.
Singapore Airlines (SIA) and DHL Express have renewed their crew and maintenance agreement for five Boeing 777 freighters based at Singapore Changi Airport, according to a joint statement on 24 September.
SIA pilots will continue to operate the five freighters, whilst its engineers will oversee their maintenance.
The aircraft support DHL’s intercontinental air network, connecting its South Asia Hub in Singapore with key destinations in the US and anchoring more long-haul cargo capacity at Changi.
The Boeing 777 freighters have provided air capacity for time-sensitive cross-border trade since entering service progressively from 2022.
The statement said each aircraft can carry up to 102 tonnes of cargo and is “amongst the world’s largest, longest range, and most capable” twin-engine freighters.
“These five Boeing 777 freighters have become an integral part of our intercontinental operations, helping our customers move time-definite shipments with speed and reliability,” said Travis Cobb, Executive Vice President for Network Operations and Aviation of DHL Express.
