SIA Group passenger traffic up 1.5% in August

The group carried 3.7 million passengers in August.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group recorded a 1.5% year-on-year (YoY) increase in passenger traffic on healthy demand in August, whilst passenger capacity rose 3.5%.

According to the group's August operating results, its passenger load factor (PLF) stood at 86.4% for the month, with SIA and Scoot posting monthly PLFs of 84.7% and 92.2% respectively. The two airlines carried a total of 3.7 million passengers, 3.6% higher than in 2025.

Cargo loads also rose 2.8% YoY despite a 0.7% decline in cargo capacity due to aircraft maintenance.

The cargo load factor consequently increased by 2 percentage points to 57.2% amidst steady high demand, although e-commerce shipments to Europe softened following the European Union’s introduction of a small-parcel duty and removal of the de minimis exemption from 1 July.

As of 31 August, the group’s passenger network covered 136 destinations across 35 countries and territories. SIA and Scoot flew to 78 and 84 destinations, respectively.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
