SIA Group’s passenger volume rises 6.1% to 2.4 million in November

The group’s passenger capacity also increased during the month.

The number of total passengers carried by Singapore Airlines and Scoot (SIA Group) rose by 6.1% MoM to 2.4 million in November 2022.

With an increase in its total passenger count, the group’s passenger capacity measured in available seat kilometres also expanded, rising by 5.5%

Based on the airline group’s latest operating results, the November 2022 passenger capacity is almost double last year’s and is already 75% of pre-COVID levels.

Meanwhile, the group passenger load factor (PLF) came in at 85.9% during the month, marginally lower by 0.5 percentage points on a MoM basis, and 56.8 percentage points higher on a YoY basis.

Cargo operations likewise saw a decline in November, only registering a load factor of 56.0% (-27.9% YoY).

In November, Scoot resumed operations in Sapporo, Japan and started a new service to Kuantan; however, it suspended service to Zhengzhou due to COVID-19 restrictions.

At the end of the month, the group served 110 passenger destinations; of which SIA served 76, whilst Scoot served 56. The cargo network covered 116 destinations.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
