SIA passenger capacity up 6% in October

This translates to 34% of the pre-COVID average capacity.

Singapore Airlines saw a growth in passenger capacity by 6% month-on-month (MoM) in October.

According to previous metrics, this was 34% of pre-COVID-19 levels.

Its passenger traffic also grew by 13.9%, MoM.

Group passenger load factor (PLF) for the month was also up 4.1 percentage points year-on-year (YoY) to 19.9%. MoM, the PLF was up by 1.4% due to stronger demand from Europe and the Americas.

Meanwhile, cargo operations had a monthly cargo load factor of 87.2%, up 1.7 percentage points YoY. Loads also rose by 58.1% on the back of a 55% capacity expansion. Route regions focused on East Asia and Americas also had YoY increases.

As of the end of the month, the SIA Group’s passenger network covered 66 destinations. 52 destinations were served by SIA’s full service network, whilst Scoot, the group’s low-cost carrier subsidiary, served 26 destinations. The month also saw Scoot relaunching flights to Phuket, as well as the resumption of flights to West Asia.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
