Singapore Airlines Group passenger traffic rises 4.9% in May

Its two carriers recorded a combined 3.6 million passengers during the month.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group posted a 4.9% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic for May, below its passenger capacity growth of 5.3%.

The group’s passenger load factor fell 0.4 percentage points from a year earlier to 86%.

Its flagship airline, SIA, posted a passenger load factor of 84.6%, whilst budget carrier Scoot recorded 91.2%. The two airlines carried a combined 3.6 million passengers during the month, up 5.2% year-on-year.

Cargo loads rose 3.2%, outpacing the 1.5% increase in cargo capacity, lifting cargo load factor by 0.9 percentage points to 58.1%.

The group said capacity constraints through Middle East hubs persisted in May but eased compared with previous months. It continued to benefit from spillover passenger traffic and cargo loads, albeit to a lesser extent.

As at 31 May 2026, the SIA Group’s passenger network covered 135 destinations in 35 countries and territories. Singapore Airlines served 77 destinations, whilst Scoot served 83.

The cargo network covered 138 destinations in 36 countries and territories.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
