What has Singapore been doing to help aerospace companies?

Gan Kim Yong highlights the Enhanced Job Support Scheme, amongst others.

A speech made by Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong at General Electric Aviation’s 40th-anniversary celebration reiterated the current efforts of the government to aid the aviation industry.

Yong highlighted the Enhanced Job Support Scheme, which currently provides eligible aerospace companies with two years of wage subsidies.

Support through the Enhanced Training Support Package and the Career Conversion Programme for Aerospace Officer and Aerospace Executive was also highlighted by the Minister, with over 2,300 and 300 individuals taking part in the program, respectively.

The minister also reiterated the status of the industry as one that’s showing signs of recovery, with a 22% year-on-year growth, due to a low base, and over 1,000 new workers expected in the coming years. According to him, the Vaccinated Travel Lanes have also strengthened the country’s confidence in reopening the company’s borders.

Initiatives to strengthen the talent pipeline were also discussed, with the Work-Study Diploma in Aircraft Engine Maintenance and Career Conversion Programme by GE Aviation being emphasised.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
