Office workers in Singapore seek stronger community and amenities: report

Respondents said they most valued varied F&B options, collaborative spaces, gyms, and convenience services.

Office workers in Singapore increasingly expect office buildings to offer stronger community-building, better communications, and more lifestyle amenities, according to a survey by workplace experience platform EXPIScore.

The survey found that 87% of respondents said communications and community-building within their office building are important to their workplace experience.

Regular e-newsletters, food-and-beverage perks, user surveys, and community events were cited as the most valued initiatives.

Amenities are now seen as a baseline expectation. 95% of office workers said they expect on-site food-and-beverage, retail, and wellness options, whilst 61% said they would like a lobby café or restaurant to create activity beyond business hours.

Younger workers aged 21–34 showed the strongest preferences, with 88% valuing community-building and 97% expecting on-site amenities.

Respondents said they most valued varied F&B options, collaborative spaces, gyms, and convenience services, alongside programmes such as networking events and fitness classes.

EXPIScore said the survey was conducted in the first half of 2025 with more than 1,000 office workers in Singapore.

It added that whilst landlords cited space and management constraints, many are exploring creative solutions, including partnerships with co-working operators and adjustments to the F&B mix, against a broader push to revitalise office areas under URA incentive schemes extended to 2030.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
