Portfolio assets climb 10.7% to $3.04t on equity gains

Equity and fund holdings rose 14.6%, whilst long-term debt securities gained 7.3%.

Singapore’s portfolio investment assets reached about $3.04t at the end of 2025, up 10.7% from $2.75t in 2024, supported by increased holdings of equity and investment fund shares, according to the Department of Statistics Singapore (SingStat).

SingStat said holdings of equity and investment fund shares rose 14.6% to about $1.85t from around $1.62t. Long-term debt securities increased 7.3%, whilst holdings of short-term debt securities decreased 14.2%.

The US led the city-state’s investment assets by destination economy, accounting for approximately $1.19t, followed by Mainland China ($229b), Japan ($143b), India ($123b), and the Republic of Korea ($113b).

The department said these economies collectively accounted for 59% of Singapore’s total portfolio investment assets at the end of 2025.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
