foodpanda launches pick-up feature for pre-orders in 2,000 restaurants

Customers using Pick-Up will not incur delivery fees and adhere to order or location restrictions.

foodpanda Singapore launched its Pick-Up feature which allows customers to pre-order food and collect orders from their preferred restaurant in 15 minutes. Customers using Pick-Up will not incur delivery fees and will also not have to adhere to minimum order values or geographical restrictions.

“Pick-Up acknowledges that time wasted queuing for food can be spent in a more exciting way. Restaurants are now able to manage orders more efficiently and also have the opportunity to further increase the number of people they are able to serve throughout the day,” the company said in an announcement.

Pick-Up is available at more than 2,000 restaurants across Singapore and will be rolled out to the majority of foodpanda’s network of over 6,000 restaurants by the end of the year. Some participating establishments include A Poke Theory, Fun Toast, Guzman y Gomez, Han’s, Heavenly Wang, and Krispy Kreme.

foodpanda Singapore's managing director Luc Andreani commented, "The launch of Pick-Up signifies an important step in the company’s growth strategy, adapting to the habits of our customers and embracing innovation. We want to give our users control of their time to do things that matter to them the most.”

Food delivery services in Singapore are adding extensions to their online services through physical establishments, following a worldwide trend amongst logistics and some e-commerce companies. foodpanda tried its hand in bricks-and-mortar earlier this year with the launch of favourites by foodpanda. It was the first 30 seater dine-in restaurant space operated by a food delivery company.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
