ThaiBev nine‑month EBITDA rises 7.2% to $1.9b despite revenue slip

Lower input costs supported beer and spirits as group revenue fell 1.8%.

Thai Beverage Public Company Limited (ThaiBev) posted a 7.2% year-on-year increase in EBITDA to $1.88b (THB48.3b) for the nine months ended 30 June, even as group revenue fell 1.8% to $9.91b (THB254.04b).

The improvement was supported by lower input costs and wider margins across several businesses, particularly beer and spirits.

Beer revenue declined 5.3% to $3.56b (THB91.35b), alongside a 1.9% drop in sales volume. However, EBITDA rose 10.4% to $542.1m (THB13.9b).

The company said the decline reflected unfavourable foreign-exchange translation effects and a slight slowdown in the Thai market. Lower raw material costs supported higher EBITDA for the segment.

Revenue from non-alcoholic beverages fell 3% to $1.87b (THB47.83b), whilst sales volume edged up 0.3%. The segment was affected by a less favourable product mix and border tensions, with volume growth mainly driven by the water category.

The food business posted a 3% increase in revenue to $665.34m (THB17.06b), on the back of an improved performance in the quick-service restaurant business.

Revenue from the group’s other businesses rose 1% to $142.74m (THB3.66b).

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
