Outbound flight bookings take off during June holidays

Mid and long haul trips both rose 21%.

Outbound flight bookings from Singapore posted double-digit year-on-year (YoY) growth in June, according to a Trip.com Group report.

During the school holiday period, local travellers booked a mix of regional and long-haul trips, whilst family travel also increased.

Shanghai recorded the strongest growth amongst top-ranked cities by flight bookings, rising 80% n the first half of the year.

Tokyo followed with a 67% increase, whilst Taipei and Ho Chi Minh City rose 39% and 28%, respectively.

Mid-haul and long-haul bookings each grew 21%, indicating stronger demand for longer-distance trips. Short-haul destination bookings increased 3%.

The report also showed travellers booked trips earlier, with the average booking window rising to 63 days from 57 days in 2025.

Average spending on flights increased, whilst travellers’ average daily spending remained stable, Trip.com Group said.

Family travel also rose during the June school holidays, with hotel bookings with children increasing 11% YoY, as family trips ranked as the most appealing travel experience ahead of trips with a partner, friends or solo travel.

Trip.com said the trend was particularly strong amongst older millennials aged 35 to 44.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
