COTD: Track record top consumers' considerations when engaging with property agents

This was followed by positive online ratings (44%).

The track record and reputation of property agents and their agencies emerged as the top consideration of nearly half of consumers (45%), according to a Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) survey.

This was followed closely by positive online ratings of the property agent by other consumers (44%) and recommendations from friends and family members (43%).

Moreover, consumers were highly aware that agent commission is negotiable to reduce disputes over a property agent’s role (79%).

Further, property agents have clear avenues for improvement, as 43% of consumers believe agents could better understand client needs and offer professional advice.

Beyond initial advice, consumers also want agents to improve by conducting thorough checks for legal compliance (40%) and negotiating better prices and terms (38%).

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
