Singapore tech workforce grows 3.8% to 222,200 in 2025

Non-I&C sectors accounted for 59% of tech professionals, with employment up 5.3% YoY.

Singapore’s tech workforce grew 3.8% year-on-year (YoY) to 222,200 professionals in 2025, as employment expanded across both the information and communications (I&C) and non-I&C sectors, according to the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA).

The increase came as Singapore’s digital economy (DE) continued to expand, with nominal value added (VA) reaching $144.1b in 2025, up from $136.5b in 2024.

The DE accounted for 19.3% of Singapore’s GDP, compared with 18.8% in 2024.

The DE grew 5.6% YoY in nominal terms, outpacing Singapore’s overall nominal GDP growth of 3.1% over the same period.

Non-I&C sectors accounted for 59% of Singapore’s tech professionals and recorded 5.3% YoY growth in tech employment in 2025.

This was higher than the 1.8% growth recorded in the I&C sector.

Demand for artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities also increased.

The proportion of tech job postings requiring at least one AI skill rose from 14% in 2024 to 16.7% in 2025.

Job postings requiring at least two AI skills increased from 4.9% to 7.6%.

The increase in demand for AI skills was recorded across both I&C and non-I&C sectors, particularly in finance & insurance, professional services, and manufacturing.

Tech workers also continued to earn above the overall resident workforce median.

The median monthly wage for resident tech workers rose slightly from $7,950 in 2024 to $8,000 in 2025.

This compared with a median monthly wage of $5,000 for all resident workers in 2025.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
