SIT launches Living Lab Network with 20,000 IoT sensors

The LLN is part of SIT’s ongoing efforts to integrate hands-on education with industry collaboration at its Punggol Campus.

The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) has launched its Living Lab Network (LLN), a campus-wide initiative designed to enhance applied learning and research through access to real-time operational systems.

The LLN is part of SIT’s ongoing efforts to integrate hands-on education with industry collaboration at its Punggol Campus.

The LLN will connect over 20,000 Internet-of-Things (IoT) sensors to key infrastructure across the campus, allowing students, faculty, and partners to work with live data and operational environments.

The system is intended to support practical engagement with technologies such as digital twinning, energy optimisation, smart buildings, and cybersecurity.

Amongst the core infrastructure systems integrated into the LLN are the Integrated Building Management System, the Multi-Energy Micro-Grid co-developed with SP Group, and the District Cooling System co-developed with ENGIE.

The LLN also expands SIT’s cybersecurity training capabilities. It allows students to conduct simulations that replicate real-world security incidents, such as malware deployment and critical infrastructure attacks.

For industry partners, the LLN serves as a plug-and-play testbed for product development and validation. Companies can test new technologies in an operational setting, with ongoing collaborations involving NEC Asia Pacific, Hitachi, and the Association of Information Security Professionals.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
