AirTrunk opens Singapore HQ amidst growing AI infra demand

The opening marks a decade of operations in the city-state.

AirTrunk—a hyperscale data centre operator serving the Asia Pacific and Middle East—officially opened its new regional headquarters in Singapore at Ocean Financial Centre, marking a decade of operations in the country.

The new office reinforces AirTrunk’s long-term growth plans and signals Singapore’s role as a regional gateway and global digital infrastructure hub, according to a press release.

The company plans to increase headcount in Singapore in the coming years, following several billion-dollar investments in three hyperscale data centres since 2016, bringing total IT load capacity to 180 megawatts (MW).

In August 2025, AirTrunk issued a $2.25b green loan to finance its second Singapore facility, SGP2—the largest loan and green loan for a data centre at that time.

Robin Khuda, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of AirTrunk, said Singapore has been central to the company’s growth and long-term Asia Pacific strategy.

He added that AirTrunk will deepen partnerships, invest in local talent, and advance sustainable operations to support Singapore’s digital infrastructure needs.

Singapore’s 2026 Budget also introduces measures to accelerate artificial intelligence (AI) adoption, enhance digital trust, and build high-performance compute capacity.

Under the National AI Strategy 2.0, the government allocated an additional $1b to AI research and development, increasing demand for secure, locally hosted computing.

AirTrunk’s three data centres support these initiatives and align with Singapore’s Digital Connectivity Blueprint and Green Data Centre Roadmap, the press release added.

Pee Beng Kong, Executive Vice President of the Singapore Economic Development Board, said AirTrunk’s decade-long presence and decision to establish its regional headquarters in Singapore demonstrate the country’s role as a hub for technology companies.

AirTrunk also maintains partnerships in social, environmental, and educational programs, including digital literacy and skills training for low-income women with Daughters of Tomorrow and habitat restoration with Garden City Fund.

Other activities include citizen science initiatives to detect illegal wildlife trade with WWF-Singapore and disaster preparedness programs with the Singapore Red Cross Society.

The headquarters sits in Singapore’s financial and technology district, featuring panoramic Marina Bay views and designed by Woods Bagot.

The office includes wellness zones, flexible collaboration spaces, energy-efficient design, and houses teams across design and innovation, development, operations, treasury, legal, and corporate functions.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
