Temasek taps Teo Chee Hean as deputy chairman

He will assume chairmanship on 9 October.

Temasek has appointed Teo Chee Hean as deputy chairman effective 1 July. He will succeed Lim Boon Heng as chairman on 9 October, following the conclusion of the company’s third-quarter board meeting.

Lim will step down from the board after serving 12 years as chairman.

Teo brings over 50 years of experience in public service. He served as deputy prime minister from 2009 to 2019 and as senior minister from 2019 until he stepped down from politics in May 2025.

He was also minister for defence from 2003 to 2011 and minister for home affairs from 2011 to 2015.

Since 2011, Teo has served as coordinating minister for national security and oversaw the Smart Nation and Digital Government Group, the National Security Coordination Secretariat, the National Population and Talent Division, and the National Climate Change Secretariat in the Prime Minister’s Office.

Temasek also announced the retirement of deputy chairman Cheng Wai Keung and director Stephen Lee, effective 30 June, after nearly 14 years and 8 years of service, respectively.

Bobby Chin will also retire as director on 31 July after serving for 11 years.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
