Three in four high-net-worth investors hold tokenised assets

Study shows strong demand for tokenised private equity, credit, and commodities.

Three in four of Singapore’s high-net-worth and professional investors already hold tokenised assets, according to a Sygnum report.

Amongst them, 48% hold or are targeting tokenised private equity and venture capital, 47% private credit, and 45% commodities.

Sygnum said the findings come as the Monetary Authority of Singapore is consulting on widening retail access to more fund types, including private-market strategies and commodities.

Across the regional survey, tokenised equities were the most in-demand category, with 68% of respondents already invested in tokenised assets saying they hold or are targeting them.

The report also identified secondary-market liquidity and legal clarity as the main barriers to further allocations.

Amongst those already invested, 63% cited the need for deeper secondary-market liquidity, whilst 58% pointed to greater legal certainty.

Sygnum said regulatory treatment remains a key issue, particularly over the rights and benefits attached to tokens relative to the underlying shares.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
