Top 10 SGX consumer stocks draw $327m inflows

The stocks averaged a 26.7% total return YTD.

Singapore's non-cyclical consumer sector has outperformed in 2026 even as artificial intelligence dominates global headlines, according to SGX.

The top 10 consumer staple stocks averaged a 26.7% total return year-to-date, driven by firm crude palm oil (CPO) prices and defensive retail demand.

These 10 most actively traded consumer stocks drew combined net institutional inflows of $327.4m for the year to 26 August.

First Resources was the standout performer, more than doubling with a 116.7% YTD. Net profit rose 57.4% year on year (YoY) in the first half of the year (H1 2026) on higher production volumes.

DBS Group Research maintains a Buy call, citing further re-rating potential and the company's track record integrating PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk.

Bumitama Agri returned 59.5% YTD whilst H1 2026 revenue grew 24% and net profit 44.3% YoY on higher sales volumes and average selling prices.

Wilmar International and Golden Agri-Resources also posted stronger first-half profits, drawing $276.7m in net institutional inflows YTD.

On retail, Sheng Siong returned 24% YTD as revenue and net profit both grew 11.9% YoY in H1, with gross margin improving to 31.8%.

The retailer flagged pricing pressure ahead from the Johor Bahru–Singapore RTS Link but expects efficiency gains from its Sungei Kadut distribution centre, due by 2029.

Meanwhile, Food Empire Holdings posted record H1 2026 revenue and net profit — up 15% and 12.2% YoY respectively, led by Russia and Central Asia segment growth.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
