Alipay+ enables usage of 6 international e-wallets in Singapore

Its merchants can now accept payments from up to 12 overseas e-wallets.

Alipay+ has enabled 6 international e-wallets to be used in Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa (RWS).

Starting 5 February, RWS now also accepts payments from Hipay (Mongolia), MPay (Macao), MyPB by Public Bank (Malaysia), Toss Pay and Naver Pay (South Korea), and Tinaba (Italy).

With this, Alipay+ said that it is now enabling its Singapore merchants to accept 12 international e-wallets.

The expansion comes as the Lion City’s tourism sector is expected to grow in 2024. Visitor arrivals in the first 11 months of 2023 were already double that of the same period in 2022, according to data from the Singapore Tourism Board. Tourists from mainland China, Malaysia, Philippines and South Korea are amongst the top 10 in visitor arrivals.

The visa-free policy between Singapore and China, which stars on 9 February, is expected to facilitate greater ease of entry for Chinese tourists and further support tourism in the city.

For Chinese New Year, RWS and Alipay+ are jointly launching a festive campaign exclusively for Alipay users, where they can access special promotions and privileges within the Alipay app.

RWS is offering a virtual RMB$128 red packet to Alipay users who can collect it via the Alipay app, which can be used to offset payments for the RWS Mini program and on-site payments.

Alipay is also a key payment partner for RWS’ Bai Jiu Shake Up (白酒新韵) event, and Alipay users can enjoy Bai Jiu cocktails with their Chinese New Year dinners at Michelin starred restaurant table65, and CHIFA! where dinner is paired with Bai Jiu cocktails specially created by Bar Sanyou, a brand created by Asia’s 50 Best Bars Hope & Sesame.

Alipay users can also enjoy a further RMB150 discount off for Bai Jiu Shake Up when they collect the red packets online.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
