Sembcorp ends $105m Puente AI Sol deal in Philippines

The group cited market conditions and shifting priorities.

Sembcorp Industries has terminated a $105m deal to acquire full ownership of Puente Al Sol Inc. through its wholly owned subsidiary, Sembcorp Energy Philippines Inc.

In a bourse filing, the group cited market conditions and evolving strategic priorities as reasons for the decision.

Its subsidiary and the seller, CleanCurrent Renewable Energy Inc., mutually agreed to terminate the share purchase agreement, Sembcorp added.

The termination is not expected to materially affect the group’s earnings per share or net tangible assets per share for the financial year ending 31 December 2026.

In January, Sembcorp said Puente Al Sol was developing a 96-megawatt solar farm in Cadiz, Philippines, which was expected to begin commercial operations later in the year.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
