Singapore beats China in 4 CEE markets in country reputation index
It ranked ahead of China in Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
Trust in Singapore amongst Central and Eastern European (CEE) consumers rose by 0.66 points between 2021 and 2026, according to the Rothman Consumer Reputation Index.
Singapore recorded one of the largest reputation gains amongst Asian countries tracked by the index, which measures the influence of the country of origin on purchasing decisions, Rothman Global said.
The country performed particularly well in Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, and Slovenia, where its country-of-origin score exceeded 6 and ranked ahead of China.
Singapore is one of the top four most reputable Asian countries amongst CEE’s 110 million consumers, alongside China, Japan, and South Korea.
Collectively, the four countries increased their average reputation score by 0.61 points.
The index found that 59% of CEE consumers consider a product’s country of origin when making purchases, compared with 55% who consider online reviews and 50% who prioritise the brand.
Price remained the leading factor, cited by 86% of respondents.
The index tracks consumer perceptions across 10 CEE markets: Austria, Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, and Serbia, Rothman Global said.
