StarHub posts $258.1m net profit on one-off Ensign gain

The telco maintained its FY2026 outlook and declared a three-cent interim dividend.

StarHub recorded net profit attributable to shareholders of $258.1m in the first half of 2026, mainly due to a one-off gain from the termination of its Aggregate Assigned Rights arrangement in Ensign.

Following the transaction, Ensign is now accounted for as an associate of the group.

Excluding Ensign, StarHub reported total revenue of $874.3m and service revenue of $744.4m. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation reached $158.6m, in line with its expectations.

Enterprise demand remained firm, with the won order books of Regional Enterprise and Managed Services increasing 49% and 52%, respectively, from the previous year.

StarHub said the stronger order books improved revenue visibility, although higher technology costs, tighter customer budgets and longer procurement cycles could slow near-term revenue conversion.

The group ended the period with $515.7m in cash and generated $40.6m in free cash flow. Its net debt-to-EBITDA ratio stood at 2.39 times.

StarHub declared an interim dividend of three cents per share. It reiterated its full-year dividend outlook of at least six cents per share or an amount determined under its dividend policy, whichever is higher.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
