First ICSID office outside Washington opens in Singapore

The site will support investment dispute cases and parties across Asia-Pacific.

The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) opened its first staffed office outside Washington, D.C., in Singapore on 26 August.

The office at 10 Marina Boulevard will support the centre’s operations in Asia-Pacific, including assistance to parties and counsel and engagement with governments, investors and legal practitioners.

The launch was marked by Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs Edwin Tong SC and ICSID Secretary-General Martina Polasek.

The office will be led by ICSID Chief Counsel Frauke Nitschke and Senior Legal Counsel Jon Chevry, alongside Legal Counsel Yuichiro Omori and Carlos Molina Esteban.

ICSID will also maintain a presence at Maxwell Chambers Suites, which houses international dispute resolution institutions, law firms, chambers and related services.

The Singapore site joins the other four World Bank Group organisations based in the city. The World Bank Group’s Singapore operations cover Asia and the Pacific and employ about 300 staff.

ICSID has 159 Member States as of August 2026.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
