$59.71m will be injected into the first phase of development.

Sunpower Group plans to invest in a biomass cogeneration project in Tongshan District, Xuzhou City of Jiangsu Province, it said in a bourse filing.

The Tongshan project will be constructed in phases and have a total capacity of 2 × 130 tons/hour (t/h) steam boilers and 2 × 35 megawatt (MW) electricity generators. The estimated investment for Phase 1 of the Tongshan Project is approximately $59.71m (RMB420m).

It will be developed under a joint venture, of which Sunpower owns an 85% stake. Upon completion, the biomass cogeneration plant will supply civil heating to homes in Tongshan District as well as supply electricity to the State Grid.

The Tongshan project has been granted an exclusive concession right to supply heating by the Tongshan District Government.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
