Gov’t establishes Maritime International Advisory Panel to improve supply chain

The panel will be chaired by Minister for Transport S Iswaran.

The Maritime International Advisory Panel (Maritime IAP) has been established to find global perspectives that will aid in improving the resilience of the international maritime industry and supply chains.

In a joint statement, the Singapore Ministry of Transport and Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said the panel was created to discuss how the maritime sector and related industries can work to enhance the connectivity of the global maritime industry and supply chains.

Minister for Transport S Iswaran was appointed as chairman of the Maritime IAP, which is composed of 12 top global business leaders from maritime sector and adjacent industries such as consultancy, e-commerce, energy and commodity, finance, logistics and manufacturing, and technology. This will complement the network of industry leaders based in Singapore.

The Maritime IAP will convene on 5 and 6 April 2022 during the Singapore Maritime Week 2022, which will be organised by MPA from 4 to 8 April 2022.

For his part, Iswaran noted that the disruptions from the pandemic underscored a connected and resilient global maritime supply chain.

“It is critical to keep global supply chains flowing to bring supplies and goods to countries and people who need them,” he said.

With the reopening of the global economy and learning to live with COVID-19, Iswaran said it is also important to “shape the future” of the maritime sector.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
