Every parent knows the quiet pride that comes from seeing their child’s hard work finally pay off. On 21 January 2026, that moment took centre stage as 27 outstanding students were recognised for their dedication, talent and incredible potential. For the first time, students from local universities, polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) were awarded merit-based scholarships under the NParks-Peter Lim Scholarship programme.
Recognising dedication, talent and promise
The celebration extended beyond these scholarship recipients, with a further 192 students also receiving study awards alongside their families and industry partners. Designed to nurture future talent across landscape, horticulture, ecology, veterinary and animal science sectors, the programme reflects the growing importance of sustainability and environmental stewardship in Singapore.
Supporting careers that care for nature and biodiversity
Established in 2020 by philanthropist and entrepreneur Mr Peter Lim in partnership with the National Parks Board (NParks), the $10 million NParks-Peter Lim Scholarship programme was created to support deserving youths pursuing careers that contribute to Singapore’s “City in Nature” vision. Through annual contributions to the Garden City Fund, the Lim Family Foundation provides educational assistance in the form of study awards, internships and learning opportunities that help students build real-world skills.
For many recipients, the impact goes beyond financial support. By easing the burden on families, students can focus fully on their studies and explore career paths they may once have thought out of reach. At the same time, industry partners benefit from a growing pipeline of passionate, well-prepared young professionals ready to shape the future of Singapore’s landscape and animal sectors.
