As a parent, weekends often mean searching for the perfect spot where kids can run, laugh, and play safely while we enjoy a little downtime. With its dazzling $50 million makeover, City Square Mall feels like the answer to every parent’s prayer—a place where eco-friendly design meets family fun, right in the heart of Farrer Park.
Essentially A Playground for All Ages
Singapore has long prided itself on being one of the world’s most family-friendly cities, with free playgrounds maintained all year round so children can play safely and make new friends without worry.
City Square Mall now raises the bar by weaving this ethos into its refreshed spaces. The mall’s enhanced green zones and interactive play areas invite kids to burn off energy while parents relax knowing they’re in a safe, welcoming environment.
If one playground is not enough, CSM has 5 – and they are all shaded. Yes, your children are protected from the rays of the Singapore sun.
They also have a maze that young kids can weave their way around in. But the highlight has to be Arizona, a multi story play park that is made up of really strong nets and slides. While Jewel’s nets don’t cater to kids with smaller sized feet, Arizona caters to small ages and is safe for toddlers! This play park is ticketed, but it is worth every penny spent.
Wellness at the Heart
The centerpiece of the revamp is CONNECT @ City Square Mall, Singapore’s first community wellness facility housed within a shopping mall.
This unique space brings together social service agencies to support families with health, wellness, and community programs.
It’s more than a mall—it’s a hub where families can access resources, learn, and grow together.
Eco-Friendly Design
True to its identity as Singapore’s first eco-mall, the refurbishment enhances green spaces and indoor landscaping, creating a refreshing environment that encourages relaxation and connection.
Energy-efficient systems and sustainable materials reduce the mall’s environmental footprint, aligning with Singapore’s broader sustainability goals.
Parents can feel good knowing their weekend hangout is also contributing to a greener future.
Food, Fun & Family Moments

Dining has been elevated with expanded F&B offerings, from casual bites to family-friendly restaurants. You literally can find EVERYTHING here – a good mix of halal and non-halal eateries – and if 2 supermarkets don’t have anything you want, maybe you should move to the moon.
The refreshed interiors and modernized atrium spaces provide a lively atmosphere where families can gather for meals after playtime. From Nasi Lemak to Italian Pasta with a canteen price tag, to quick bites like Min Jiang Kueh and Takoyaki. CSM has your covered.
Retail has also been reimagined, with new concepts that make shopping more engaging for both parents and kids (yes the Toys R Us is still there),
Walking through the mall, you can sense the vibrancy—children running between play corners, parents enjoying a coffee while keeping an eye on their little ones, and families gathering in spaces designed to bring people together.
It’s not just a mall; it’s a community hub where wellness, sustainability, and family life converge.
Yes, I’ll admit, it is my new favourite mall now.
