First Resources commits to cooperate amidst haze probe
It welcomes documentary, technical reviews and on-ground verifications by authorities.
First Resources Limited supports and welcomes a thorough, evidence-based examination of facts surrounding the ongoing fires and haze in Singapore, it said in a press release.
The group reaffirms its strict enforcement of the Zero Burning Policy as part of its sustainability commitments.
Earlier, First Resources blamed El Niño as fires spread to Indonesian plantations under its jurisdiction, expressing its willingness to help mitigate fire risks in the area.
The group said it's ready to cooperate with relevant authorities in providing relevant facts and evidence, adding that the investigation should be based on verified facts, scientific evidence and on-ground review of circumstances.
Evidence may include a chronology of hotspot detections and satellite-based fire progression imagery, documentary evidence of actions taken to suppress and extinguish fires and spatial analyses showing protection of conservation areas.
The group is also open to suggestions from regulators, stakeholders, customers, investors and civil society organisations on how collective efforts to mitigate fires can be improved.
