SIA Group passenger traffic up almost 3% in September

The group carried 3.5 million passengers in September.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group’s passenger traffic increased by 2.8% year on year (YoY) on healthy demand in September, according to the group’s operating results.

Passenger load factor (PLF) stood at 86.8% for the month. Scoot posted monthly PLFs of 90.8%, whilst SIA’s PLFs slipped to 85.7%, with a YoY decrease in East Asia, Europe, and the South West Pacific, as capacity increases outpaced traffic growth.

The two airlines carried a combined total of 3.5 million passengers, up 3.7% YoY.

Cargo loads rose by 9.4% YoY on growth across most verticals, particularly shipments of hardware for semiconductor and artificial intelligence applications, whilst cargo capacity increased by 3.1%.

Cargo load factor also grew by 3.4 percentage points to 59.6%.

The group said it covered 136 destinations in 35 countries and territories in September, with SIA and Scoot flying to 78 and 84 destinations, respectively.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
