SIA Group passenger traffic rises 2.6% as 3.7 million fly in July

Capacity grew 5.5% thanks to a network expansion.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group’s passenger traffic rose 2.6% year on year in July, with SIA’s and Scoot’s combined total passengers growing 4% to 3.7 million.

The group’s passenger capacity increased 5.5% during the month, supported by a network expansion to East Asia, Europe, and the South West Pacific.

Passenger load factor (PLF) stood at 86%, with SIA and Scoot posting monthly PLFs of 84.8% and 90.2%, respectively.

Meanwhile, cargo load slipped 0.1%, whilst cargo capacity fell 1.5% due to reduced freighter aircraft activity linked to maintenance.

Consequently, the cargo load factor rose by 0.8 percentage points to 57.9%, the group said.

Scoot suspended services to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia from 14 July, following the escalation of the Middle East conflict. SIA’s services to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates remain suspended.

As of 31 July, the group’s passenger network covered 136 destinations in 35 countries and territories. SIA served 78 destinations, whilst Scoot served 84 destinations.

The cargo network comprised 139 destinations in 36 countries and territories.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
