ST Engineering US unit and General Dynamics C4 Systems join forces

VT Miltope has potential to earn up to $250mn over the five-year IDIQ contract.

ST Engineering's US subsidiary, VT Miltope, on Tuesday announced that it has teamed with General Dynamics C4 Systems on the Common Hardware Systems-4 (CHS-4) programme. General Dynamics C4 Systems was recently awarded the five-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a potential value of US$3.7b if all options are exercised by the Army Contracting Command-Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG). VT Miltope has the potential to earn up to US$250m (about S$323.7m) over the life of this contract.

It will provide three military rugged products that will meet V2 and V3 CHS-4 environmental and Electromagnetic Interferences (EMI) requirements. These products are the Enhanced / Rugged Handheld Terminal Unit, Rugged Portable Digital Assistant, and Notebook Computer Unit.

"VT Miltope is proud to team with General Dynamics, a leading integrator of secure communication and information systems and technology, on this important IDIQ programme. We are committed to providing the Army soldier with rugged, reliable computers that meet their operational needs," Julie A. BRIGGS, President and CEO, VT Miltope said in a ST Engineering report.

The IDIQ contract allows the US Army the flexibility to acquire items defined in the contract, within stated limits, over the five-year period.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
