Keppel Infrastructure opens 1st Green Mark Platinum Positive Energy building in Changi

The building is expected to yield about 600,000 kWh/year of renewable energy.

Keppel Infrastructure @ Changi, which was awarded the Green Mark Platinum Positive Energy building under the new Building and Construction Authority (BCA) certification scheme, has officially opened.

According to Keppel Infrastructure (KI), the over 4,000 square metres of photovoltaics (PV) on the building's rooftop and facade will yield about  600,000 kWh/year of renewable energy, which is more than double its consumption.

"The reduction in carbon emissions is equivalent to the planting of 7,000 trees," KI added.

In addition, the building’s vertical greening and biophilic landscaping were co-funded by the National Parks Board under the Skyrise Greenery Incentive Scheme.

"This adds over 910 square metres of greenery to the building and reduced the urban heat island effect, improving the performance of the indoor environment while enhancing the health and well-being of the building’s occupants," KI said.

Apart from being a green building, Keppel Infrastructure @ Changi will serve as a "mission critical operation nerve centre" for four district cooling plants operated by Keppel DHCS across Singapore.

"Keppel Infrastructure @ Changi enables us to showcase our Energy-as-a-Service offering and how we can harness digital technology, artificial intelligence and IoT for remote operations, predictive maintenance and performance optimisation to enhance the efficiency and reliability of our energy assets and services," Cindy Lim, CEO of Keppel Infrastructure,

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
