MOF appoints new head of accounting and corporate regulatory authority board

Ong Chong Tee will assume his post on 1 July 2022.

Ong Chong Tee was appointed as chairman of the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (Acra) Board, which will take effect on 1 July 2022, the Ministry of Finance said.

He will replace Tan Ching Yee, who served as head of the board since 1 April 2018.

Ong, who was former deputy chairman of Acra, will continue to ensure a trusted business environment. Acra will also soon strengthen its effectiveness as a corporate registry and regulator, and as a developer of the accountancy sector when it is merged with the Singapore Accountancy Commission.

Prior to his appointment at Acra, Ong worked at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) from 1986 to 2021 where he held senior positions in reserve management, central banking monetary operations and market development.

He was previously MAS’ deputy managing director of Financial Supervision, managing the “financial sectors of banking, insurance, capital markets, payment services as well as technology and money laundering risks from 2014 to 2021.”

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
