Hotel rates forecast to rise up to 1.6% in 2027

This comes as hotels compete for travellers facing tighter budgets.

Singapore’s hotel rates are expected to rise by 0.8% to 1.6% in 2027 despite keeping its position as Asia-Pacific’s (APAC) top meeting destination, the Amex GBT Consulting said as hotels compete for inbound travellers with tighter budgets amidst rising airfares.

Airfares increased 15% year on year in mid-2026, with prices on some Asia routes rising by as much as twice that rate.

Singapore recorded a record year for inbound visitors in 2025, with 2026 expected to surpass that figure.

It was also ranked the No. 1 meetings destination in Asia-Pacific for 2026 in American Express Global Business Travel’s Global Meetings and Events Forecast.

The economy is expected to maintain steady growth through 2030, outpacing other developed economies in APAC.

Singapore has also expanded its AI sector in recent years, supported by its regulatory framework.

Globally, hotel rates are expected to increase in 2027, extending the trend seen in 2026.

Corporate travel and meetings demand in the Americas and Europe, alongside persistent inflation, are expected to support higher prices, whilst growth in APAC is projected to be more moderate.

The report also points to uneven demand across markets, with the ongoing Middle East conflict affecting key Gulf destinations.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
